Getting started with a meditation practice isn't that difficult. It is all about focus and discipline, becoming present in the now by focusing on the breath as it flows in and out. Repeating a mantra helps too. If you practice for just a few minutes every day, your practice will become easier and you will be able to meditate longer. It's a good idea to set the same time everyday for your practice as your body and mind will become accustomed to the practice and will look forward to it. It won't be long until you start to see the benefits of a daily meditation practice.

There are many forms of meditation. Some people find it hard to sit still in silence with their eyes closed. There are moving meditations such as Qi Gong, walking meditations, dance can be a form of meditation also drawing and painting. It's all about being present in the moment and being mindful of thoughts helps to reduce mind chatter. Thoughts are just energy floating around, they are not your thoughts most of the time so it's important to see thoughts as an observer and not become attached or identify with them. This promotes a more positive mind set and helps us get out of negative thought patterns.

Meditation is about connection to self, a useful tool to help uncover our hidden talents, our passions, when we make that connection to our soul/ higher self.
